The Municipal Elections Rules for Municipal Corporations
Infrastructure2 rules
These rules regulate the reservation of mayoral positions within Municipal Corporations to ensure inclusive representation in local urban governance. The rules mandate that out of every 100 mayoral vacancies, specific positions are reserved for members of Scheduled Castes, women (including those from Scheduled Castes), and members of Backward Classes. By assigning specific serial numbers to these reserved categories, the law guarantees that marginalized groups and women have a designated opportunity to lead. These rules apply to general elections held after the completion of a Corporation's five-year term, ensuring a structured and continuous rotation of leadership opportunities across the state.
