The Vice-Chancellor
The Guru Kashi University Act, 2011(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor from the panel of five persons recommended by the Governing Body, subject to the provisions of this Act, hold office for a term of three years: Provided that the Vice-Chancellor shall continue to hold office even after expiring of his term, till new Vice-Chancellor joins, but, in any case, this period shall not exceed one year. (2) No person shall be appointed as Vice-Chancellor, unless he possesses such qualifications, as may be prescribed by the University Grants Commission or its equivalent body, created or constituted by the Central Government or State Government. (3) The Vice-Chancellor shall be the principal executive and academic officer of the University and shall exercise such powers and perform such duties, as may be prescribed. (4) In case of absence of the visitor and the chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor shall preside over the convocation of the University. (5) The Vice-Chancellor shall exercise such powers and perform such duties, as may be prescribed.
