The East Punjab Tractor Cultivation (Recovery of Charges) Act, 1949

General19499 sections

This law provides a legal framework for farmers in Chandigarh to request government tractor services for agricultural operations like ploughing, sowing, harvesting, and land reclamation. Cultivators submit written applications along with prescribed advance deposits to the Director of Agriculture. Once the tractor work is finished, the department issues a demand notice specifying any remaining balance due. Farmers are given a fixed timeframe to pay the balance, either in full or through permitted installments. If a cultivator fails to clear the outstanding dues, the government is empowered to recover the unpaid charges as arrears of land revenue.
