Short title, extent and commencement

(1) This Act may be called the East Punjab Armed Bands (Arrest and Detention) Act, 1947. (2) It extends to the whole of [the principal territories]. (3) It shall come into force in such areas and on such date or dates as the [State] Government may, by notification, appoint in this behalf.
