The Punjab Tenancy (East Punjab Validation of Orders, Proceeding and Acts) Act, 1948
1. Short title
This Act may be called the Punjab Tenancy (East Punjab Validation of Orders, Proceedings and Acts) Act, 1948.
2. Definitions
In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,— (a) "Punjab Tenancy Act" means the Punjab Tenancy Act, 1887, as for the time being in force in East Punjab; (b) "Orders, proceedings and acts" means all orders, proceedings and acts done or passed by any Revenue Officer or Revenue Court in the East Punjab in exercise of the powers conferred or intended to be conferred by the Punjab Tenancy Act, 1948 (East Punjab Act 3 of 1948), or any other law in force, before the commencement of this Act.
3. Validation of orders, proceedings and acts
Notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force, all orders passed, proceedings taken or acts done by any Revenue Officer or Revenue Court on or after the 15th August, 1947, in exercise of the powers conferred or intended to be conferred by the Punjab Tenancy Act, 1948 (East Punjab Act 3 of 1948), or any other law, shall be deemed to be, and to have always been, validly passed, taken or done, and shall not be called in question in any court or before any authority on the ground that the Punjab Tenancy Act, 1948, or any other law was not in force at the time such orders were passed, proceedings were taken or acts were done.
