Bare Act
The Punjab State Legislature Members (Pension and Medical Facilities Regulation) Act, 1977
This law regulates pensions, medical facilities, family benefits, and financial relief for former members of the Punjab state legislature and its predecessor legislative bodies. It entitles eligible former legislators to a fixed monthly pension alongside dearness allowances, with age-based increases for senior citizens. To prevent duplicate benefits, pension payments are paused or reduced if a recipient holds specified public offices, government employment, or faces disqualification. Additionally, the Act grants healthcare coverage, allows government dues to be recovered from pensions, and ensures family pensions and ex-gratia grants for surviving spouses and relatives, including special provisions for deaths resulting from terrorist acts.
