The Punjab Local Authorities (Provision of Stalls for Displaced Persons) Act, 1950

This Act may be called the Punjab Local Authorities (Provision of Stalls for Displaced Persons) Act, 1950. It extends to the whole of the State of Punjab.

In clause (a) of section 3 of the Punjab Municipal Act, 1911 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), between the figures “176” and “177” the figure and letter “176-A” shall be inserted.

In clause (2) of subsection (2) of section 52 of the said Act, between the word “markets” and the words “encamping grounds” the word and comma “stalls,” shall be inserted.

In clause (a) of subsection (2) of section 66 of the said Act, between the word “markets” and the word “slaughter-houses” the word and comma “stalls,” shall be inserted.

After clause (8) of section 85 of the Punjab Small Towns Act, 1921, the following new clause shall be inserted, namely :— “(un) the construction of stalls for displaced persons and leasing them out to persons displaced from Pakistan, and their management.”

After section 176 of the said Act, the following new section shall be inserted, namely— “176-A. The Committee may, and if so required by the State Government, shall, construct stalls for persons displaced from Pakistan, and shall lease them out to such persons on such conditions as the State Government may by general or special order prescribe.”

In sub-clause (g) of clause (9) of section 188 of the said Act after the word “markets”, the words “and stalls” shall be inserted.

In Schedule I of the Punjab Municipal (Executive Officer) Act, 1931, between the figures “176” and “177” the figure and letter “176-A” shall be inserted.
