This Act extends various laws, rules, regulations and orders that were in force under the State of Punjab to newly transferred territories effective from November 1956. It makes hundreds of previously applicable laws valid in these transferred areas without requiring separate re-enactment. Special provisions define how courts must treat references to the old laws in these new territories, protecting established rights while repealing any contradictory laws.
