Puducherry Patente (Abolition) Act, 1970

This law ends the use of the "patente" system in the Union territory of Puducherry. It officially cancels two older regulations from 1938 that previously governed this process. Any legal cases or transactions that were already started under those old rules are simply moved to the local revenue authorities to be finished. The Act also protects government officials from being sued if they act honestly while carrying out these changes. Essentially, it modernizes the legal framework by removing an outdated administrative practice and ensuring that ongoing matters are handled smoothly by current officials.
