Bare Act
The Orissa Relief Undertakings (Special Provisions) Act, 1983
General19839 sections
This Orissa state law from 1983 allows the government to declare certain industrial businesses as "relief undertakings" to prevent them from closing down due to financial loss or unemployment. Once a business is declared a relief undertaking, the state can suspend or modify existing laws and contracts that might otherwise stop the business from operating. This temporary measure overrides other legal agreements and court orders to keep production going and protect jobs. The special status lasts for up to ten years and automatically reverts to normal once the period ends.
