Bare Act
The Orissa Drugs (Control) Act, 1950
Health195020 sections
This Act regulates the sale, supply, and distribution of drugs in the state of Orissa. It applies to dealers and producers who sell or manufacture medicines. The government can set maximum prices and limits on how much stock can be held or sold to stop people from hoarding essential medicines and making excessive profits. This was necessary after the rupee devaluation in 1949 caused drug prices to skyrocket and stock to disappear, ensuring that essential medicines remain accessible to the public.
