This scheme provides financial security to elderly handloom weavers in Odisha. It targets individuals aged 60 or older who have worked in weaving or related tasks for at least 20 years, or the widows of such workers. The program aims to support the state's cultural heritage by ensuring skilled artisans can afford old age support. To qualify, applicants must be permanent residents of Odisha with a family income below one lakh rupees per year and must hold a valid government-issued weaver identity card. It excludes those already receiving other pensions.

  1. 0. Preamble
  2. 1. This Scheme may be called “BARISTHA BUNAKAR SAHAYATA YOJANA” (BBSY)
  3. 2. This shall be applicable throughout the State of Odisha.
  4. 3. This shall come into force from the date of notification by the Government of Odisha Gazette.
  5. 4. Weavers including full time ancillary workers will be covered under this Scheme from the date it comes into force.
  6. 5. Definition of Bunakar and Full Time Ancillary worker:
  7. 6. Family includes the following members living in Common mess.
  8. 7. Eligibility Criteria and Categories of BBSY : A person shall be eligible to get benefit under this Scheme, if he/she:

Amount of Assistance: The amount of assistance payable to each person under the scheme shall be of such amount as may be decided by State Government from time to time, the present rate of assistance being Rs.500/- per month per person aged 60 years and above; and Rs 700/- per month per person aged 80 years and above.

  21. 20. These Rules shall regulate the accounting procedure relating to the “Baristha Bunakar Sahayata Yojana’’(BBSY).
  22. 21. The Director may review the implementation of the scheme from time to time or through Divisional Officer. The Divisional Officer shall inspect or cause to be inspected any matter connected with the administration of the scheme. The Zonal Officer will remain in charge of proper execution of the scheme and maintenance of the records.
  23. 22. Any doubt in interpretation of any provision of these Rules or in administering the same, shall be referred to the Director of Textiles for appropriate action.
