*THE ORISSA ANCIENT MONUMENTS PRESERVATION ACT, 1956

[Received the assent of the Governor on the 18th May 1956, first published in an extraordinary issue of the Orissa Gazette, dated the 11th June, 1956.]

ANACT FORTHE PRESERVATION OFANCIENT MONUMENTSAND OBJECTS OFARCHAEOLOGICAL, HISTORICAL ORARTISTIC INTEREST INTHE STATE OF ORISSA.

WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the preservation of ancient monuments for the exercise of control over excavation in certain places and for the protection and acquisition in certain cases of ancient monuments and of objects of archaeological, historical or artistic interest in the State of Orissa;

It is hereby enacted by the Legislature of the State of Orissa in the Seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows :
