The Nagaland Work Charged and Casual Employees Regulation (First Amendment) Act, 2024

This Act amends the Nagaland Work-charged and Casual Employees Regulation Act, 2001 to create a new category of staff called Operation and Maintenance Staff. It applies to employees in the Public Health Engineering and Power Departments who were previously exempt from being phased out. The law establishes a recruitment process involving departmental boards and a mandatory one-year observation period followed by a suitability test. Staff who pass the test can be regularized against vacant posts based on seniority, while those who fail are terminated. The Act also sets limits on the total number of staff that can be appointed.
