The Nagaland Speaker's Salary & Allowances Act, 1964
The Nagaland Speaker's Salary and Allowances Act, 1964 sets the financial remuneration, housing benefits, conveyance entitlements, and official allowances for the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. It provides for a fixed monthly salary, free furnished accommodation in Kohima or house rent allowance, official transport, medical benefits for the Speaker and dependent family members, and an entertainment allowance. To maintain impartiality and full-time dedication, the Act prohibits the Speaker from practicing any other profession, engaging in trade, or drawing a regular member of the Legislative Assembly salary while in office.
