The Nagaland Salaries, Allowances & other Facilities of the CM, Speaker, Dy CM/Ministers, Lo P, Dy Speaker and other MLAs and Pension for Ex-Members Act, 2024
This Act regulates the financial entitlements, including salaries, allowances, and facilities, for elected representatives of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, ranging from the Chief Minister to ordinary Members. It establishes the framework for pension and family pension schemes for former members, ensuring financial security post-tenure. The legislation also mandates welfare funds for contingencies, provides ex-gratia payments for deceased members, and outlines procedures for claiming or surrendering official facilities. For the ordinary citizen, this Act provides transparency regarding the public expenditure allocated to maintain the state's legislative body, defining the specific financial obligations and administrative responsibilities of the government toward its representatives.

- 5. "Speaker" means and includes:
- 6. A member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly appointed by the Governor to perform the duties of the office of the Speaker.
- 11. "Ex-Member" for the purpose of pension, if alive, and family pension, if not alive, means and include a person,
- 12. Member of the Tenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly who had voluntarily resigned and has not been entitled to pension shall be entitled to pension and family pension henceforth.
- 14. “Term” for the purpose of pension and family pension under this Act, has the same meaning assigned to the words “Life of a Legislative Assembly”.
