The Nagaland Requisition of Porters (1st Amendment) Act, 1985

General19853 sections

This law amends the Nagaland (Requisition of Porters) Act of 1965 to place stricter limits on the government's power to force able-bodied men to work for public purposes. It applies to the whole state of Nagaland and comes into effect immediately. The amendment adds a new rule that such forced service is only allowed during genuine emergencies. Furthermore, the duration and extent of this compulsory labor must be strictly limited to what is absolutely necessary to handle the specific situation at hand, protecting citizens from indefinite or excessive demands for their labor during crises.
