0. Preamble
The Nagaland Legislative Assembly Members Salaries, Allowances and Pension (Amendment)Act, 1999.

Received the assent of the Governor of Nagaland on 17/07/1999 and publishedin the Nagaland GazetteExtraordinary date:22*of September, 1999.
Further to amend the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Members salaries, allowances and pensionact 1964.
Whereas it is expedient to amend the Nagaland Legislative Assembly members salaries,allowances and pension act, 1964(Nagaland actNo, 4 sf 1964) in the manner here underappending:
Itishereby enacted in the Fiftiethyear ofthe RepublicofIndia as follows:
1. SHORTTITLEAND COMMENCEMENT.
- (i) This act shall be called the Nagaland LegislativeAssembly Member's salaries,allowances and pension (amen8ment)Act 1999
- (ii) It shall come into force on suchdate such asthe stategovernment may bynotificationin officialgazetteappoint.
2. AMENDMENTOFSECTION 3
Section 3 of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly member's salaries, allowances and pension act 1964 (Nagaland act no 6 of 1944) shall be substitutedby the followingashereunder,
3. Salaries:- There shall be paid to each member a salary at the rate sf Rupees eightthousandper mensen.
AMENDMENTOFSECTION3A
Section3A(I), of the Principal Act shall be substitutedby the followingas hereunder:
3A(I)There shall be paid a pension of Rupees two thousand per mensem to every person who has served for one term as a member of the Nagaland LegislativeAssembly or member of the Interim Body constitutedunder the Nagaland (TransitionalProvisions)Regulation, 1961, (2of 196 1)
Provided that where any person has served as aforesaid for more than one term, there shall be paid to him an additional pension of Rupees One thousand only per mensem for the first second term and an additional pension of Rupees five hundred or such further additional term but subject to a maximum ofRupees sixthousand only per mensem.
Provided further that family pension shall be paid at a rate of fifty percent in the manner as may be prescribed.
Explanation:
The expression 'Term' in the above section3A(I)shall mean aperiod of five years beginning from the date of publication of the notification constituting the Nagaland Legislative Assembly after any general election held and includes a period lesser than five years in the event of dissolution of the House for fresh election before the completion of five years period and further includes the term sewed by person as member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly onbeing elected onthe basis ofany bye -election held.
4. AMENDMENT OFSECTION4 SectionNo.4 ofthe PrincipalAct shallbe substitutedby the following:
4. There shall be paid to each member the following allowances:
- (i) a daily allowance of Rupees two hundred per day during the Session and Committees meetings for halts during the tour within the State as duly approved by the Speaker and Rupees three hundred per day for the tour outside the State as duly approved by the Speaker or Rupees four hundred per day in such casewhere Nagaland House isnot available.
- (ii) Traveling allowance at a rate admissible to a Government servant of the First Grade under relevant rules.
- (iii) Hospitality allowance at a rate of Rupees one thousand five hundred only per mensem.
- (iv) News paper and magazine allowance at a rate of Rupees two hundred andfifty per mensem.
