Bare Act
The Nagaland Arm Police Act, 1966
The Nagaland Armed Police Act, 1966 provides for the establishment, organization, and discipline of the Nagaland Armed Police force. It applies to all members of this armed force wherever they are serving. The statute establishes the hierarchy of officers, enrolment procedures, and service terms while granting force members the powers and duties of police officers. Crucially, it defines strict disciplinary standards by penalizing offences such as mutiny, desertion, assault on superiors, and cowardice with criminal punishments or administrative penalties. By setting clear operational and legal frameworks, the Act ensures discipline, accountability, and efficiency in maintaining law, order, and security.
