Bare Act
The Mizoram Salaries, Allowances and Pension of the Members of the Legislative Assembly (Amendment) Act, 1991
This law regulates the financial compensation, housing, travel benefits, and retirement pensions for Members of the Legislative Assembly in Mizoram. It applies directly to these elected state lawmakers. The act increases their monthly salaries, daily allowances, constituency budgets, and postal funds, while securing furnished housing, utility coverage, and helper staff. Additionally, it expands free travel perks for legislators and their families, raises housing loan limits, and increases lifetime pensions. This amendment matters because it directly increases public spending on state politicians, aiming to ensure they are comfortably accommodated and supported during and after their terms of public service.
