This Act provides legal rules for marriage, divorce, and inheritance specifically for the Mizo people in Mizoram. It applies to anyone belonging to a Mizo tribe or to marriages where the male partner is Mizo, covering the entire state except for areas under the Sixth Schedule. The law establishes procedures for giving notice of marriage, setting a minimum marriage price known as man pui, and solemnizing unions through licensed officers or religious leaders.
