This Act provides for Special Courts in Meghalaya to try certain cases quickly. The Government can declare which cases are to be dealt with under the Act, and those cases then go to a Special Court. The Act sets out the Special Courts' jurisdiction, procedure and powers, allows appeals against their orders, and lets the presiding judge act on evidence already recorded.
