1. Short title and commencement

- (1) This Act may be called the Meghalaya Labour Laws (Amendment) Act, 2020.
- (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Meghalaya.
- (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, in the Official Gazette appoint.
2. Amendment of the Factories Act,

In clause
- (m) of Section 2 of the Factories Act, 1948,-
- (i) in the existing sub-clause (i), for the word "ten" appearing therein, the word "twenty" shall be substituted; and
- (ii) in sub-clause (ii), for the word "twenty" appearing therein, the word "forty" shall be substituted;
3. Amendment of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 (Central Act No. 37 of 1970)

In sub-section
- (4) of Section 1 of Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970,-
- (i) in the existing clause
- (a) for the word "twenty" appearing therein, the word "fifty" shall be substituted ;and
- (ii) in the existing clause (b), for the word "twenty" appearing therein, the word "fifty" shall be substituted.
4. Amendment of the Industrial Disputes Act,
Statutory text
In Section 25-K of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 for the words "one hundred" appearing therein, the words "three hundred" shall be substituted.
