Bare Act
The Manipur State Road Transport (Prevention of Ticketless Passengers) Act, 1976
This law regulates passenger travel on public road transport services operated by state transport undertakings in Manipur. It applies to bus passengers and transport employees issuing tickets. The law requires passengers to buy valid tickets before travelling, carry them throughout the journey, and present them for inspection upon request. Travelling ticketless, beyond authorized destinations, or obstructing staff carries penalties including fines, imprisonment, excess charges, and ejection from the vehicle. Transport workers who negligently or intentionally fail to issue valid tickets face similar penalties. The law protects state transport revenue, prevents fare evasion, and ensures disciplined public transit operations.
