The Manipur Medicare Service Personnel and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2015 aims to protect healthcare workers and facilities across Manipur from violence and property destruction. It applies to doctors, nurses, medical students, paramedics, and other staff working in public or private hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers. The Act prohibits any act of violence, harm, or intimidation against medical personnel, as well as damage to medical equipment and premises. Offenses are non-bailable and punishable by up to three years in prison and fines up to fifty thousand rupees, alongside mandatory compensation equal to double the property damage caused. It also mandates inquiries into alleged medical negligence.
