The Manipur legislature (removal of disqualifications)(sixth amendment) act, 2021

The Manipur Legislature (Removal of Disqualifications) (Sixth Amendment) Act, 2021 updates existing state law to ensure that holding certain posts within state authorities does not disqualify individuals from serving as members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly. Specifically, it amends the 1972 Act to replace references to the Manipur State Planning Board with the newly established Manipur State Planning Authority. It also explicitly includes the role of Deputy Chairman alongside Vice-Chairman and Chairman under exempted positions. By clarifying these definitions, the Act protects legislators holding leadership roles in the state planning body from losing their legislative seats under office-of-profit disqualification rules.
