Amendment of Section 147

In section 147 of the Principal Act, for the full stop at the end, a colon shall be substituted and thereafter the following proviso shall be inserted, namely,-- "Provided that the Deputy Commissioner shall be as soon as the publication of the list under Section 143(3) is made, invite applications from eligible candidates including Schedule Castes and Schedule tribes members who resides within eight kilometers of the village in which the excess lands are situated to file applications for allotment in the prescribed form within a period of thirty days from the issue of such notice. Verification of those applications and selection of assignees for allotment of Surplus land shall as far as practicable be completed within the next thirty days of the receipt of application."
