Power of State Government to authorise the inquiring authority specified in section 5
The Manipur Departmental Inquiries (Enforcement of Attendance of Witnesses and Production of Documents) Act, 1989(1) Where the State Government is of opinion that for the purposes of any departmental inquiry it is necessary to summon witnesses or to compel the production of documents, it may, by order, authorise the inquiring authority to exercise the powers specified in section 5 in relation to any person within such area as may be specified in the order. (2) The powers conferred on the State Government by sub-section (1) may also be exercised by any officer or authority to whom the appointing authority has delegated their powers in the case in which the departmental inquiry is being held. (3) The State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, specify the area in this behalf.
