Bare Act
The Maharashtra Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1971
The Maharashtra Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1971, establishes the Maharashtra Veterinary Council to regulate the veterinary profession within the state. It mandates the creation and maintenance of an official register of qualified veterinary practitioners. The Act ensures that only individuals with recognized veterinary qualifications can practice, sign official certificates, or provide expert testimony in legal matters. By setting these standards, the law protects animal health and public interest, ensuring that veterinary services are provided by competent, verified professionals. It also provides a framework for disciplinary action and establishes penalties for those who falsely claim to be registered or practice without authorization.
