This Act prohibits the unauthorised occupation of vacant land in urban areas of Maharashtra and allows summary eviction of unauthorised occupants by the Competent Authority. It covers the renovation of existing structures, the powers of the Controller of Slums, and recovery of dues. Offences are tried summarily and are non-bailable, and the courts cannot hear challenges to action under it.
