The Lepers (Bombay Amendment) Act, 1955
2. Amendment of section 1 of Act III of 1898
In section 1 of the Lepers Act, 1898, in its application to the State of Bombay (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in sub-section (2), for the words "to the whole of India" the words "to the whole of the State of Bombay" shall be substituted. This Act may be called the Lepers (Bombay Amendment) Act, 1955.
3. Amendment of section 2 of Act III of 1898
In section 2 of the principal Act, for the definition of "State Government", the following shall be substituted, namely:—
"State Government" means the Government of Bombay."
4. Insertion of new section 16A in Act III of 1898
After section 16 of the principal Act, the following section shall be inserted, namely:—
"16A. Application of Act to the whole State without prejudice to Act or law in force in any area.—The application of this Act to the whole of the State of Bombay shall not prejudice the operation of any Act or law relating to lepers which is in force in any area of the State of Bombay and if any inconsistency exists between this Act and any such Act or law, the provisions of this Act shall prevail in so far as the inconsistent provisions of such Act or law are concerned."
