The Legal Practitioners (Bombay Amendment) Act, 1948
1. Short title and extent
(1) This Act may be called the Legal Practitioners (Bombay Amendment) Act, 1948. (2) It extends to the whole of the Province of Bombay.
2. Amendment of section 8 of Act XVIII of 1879
In section 8 of the Legal Practitioners Act, 1879, in its application to the Province of Bombay, after the words "shall, on application made to the High Court," the words "or to any Court subordinate to the High Court as the High Court may by rules prescribe in this behalf," shall be inserted.
3. Amendment of section 9 of Act XVIII of 1879
In section 9 of the said Act, in its application to the Province of Bombay, after the words "such application," the words "to the High Court or to such subordinate Court, as the case may be," shall be inserted.
4. Amendment of section 10 of Act XVIII of 1879
In section 10 of the said Act, in its application to the Province of Bombay, after the words "any person who has been admitted as a pleader," the words "or mukhtar" shall be inserted; and for the words "his admission" the words "his admission as a pleader or mukhtar, as the case may be" shall be substituted.
