The Kazis (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 1978

(1) This Act may be called the Kazis (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 1978. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

In section 4 of the Kazis Act, 1880, in its application to the State of Maharashtra (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for the words “shall not confer upon any person any jurisdiction or authority”, the words “shall not, except as otherwise provided by any law for the time being in force, confer upon any person any jurisdiction or authority” shall be substituted.

In section 5 of the principal Act, for the words “nothing herein contained”, the words “subject to the provisions of any law for the time being in force, nothing herein contained” shall be substituted.
