The Drug and Cosmetics (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 1989

(1) This Act may be called the Drugs and Cosmetics (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 1989. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

In section 18 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (XXIII of 1940), in its application to the State of Maharashtra (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in clause (a), after sub-clause (vi), the following shall be added, namely:— "(vii) any drug or cosmetic, the manufacture, sale or distribution of which is prohibited by or under this Act."

In section 27 of the principal Act, in its application to the State of Maharashtra, in clause (a), for the words "punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than five years" the words "punishable with imprisonment for life" shall be substituted.
