The Bombay University (Temporary Postponement of Election of University Representatives) Act, 1989
1. Short title and commencement
(1) This Act may be called the Bombay University (Temporary Postponement of Election of University Representatives) Act, 1989. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 27th June 1989.
2. Postponement of elections
Notwithstanding anything contained in the Bombay University Act, 1974, or in the Statutes or Ordinances made thereunder, it shall be lawful for the State Government, and it is hereby empowered, to postpone the elections of the University Representatives to the authorities of the University, for a period not exceeding one year from the date of commencement of this Act, and the existing University Representatives whose term of office would expire shall continue to hold office until the new University Representatives are duly elected.
3. Repeal of Mah. Ord. VII of 1989 and saving
(1) The Bombay University (Temporary Postponement of Election of University Representatives) Ordinance, 1989, is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken (including any notification issued) under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act.
