Penalty for subsequent offences

Whoever, having been convicted of an offence under section 6A, 7, 8 or 9 is again convicted of an offence under section 6A, 7 or 9 shall, on conviction, be liable for any such subsequent offence to an enhanced punishment not exceeding double the punishment which might be imposed on a first conviction for such offence.
