The Bombay Hindu Divorce (Decrees Validation) Act, 1958
1. Short title and extent
(1) This Act may be called the Bombay Hindu Divorce (Decrees Validation) Act, 1958. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Bombay.
2. Validation of certain decrees for divorce
Notwithstanding anything contained in the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, or any other law for the time being in force, any decree for divorce passed by a Civil Court, not being a District Court, whether before or after the commencement of the Bombay Hindu Divorce Act, 1947, in any area of the State of Bombay, and subsisting on the date of commencement of this Act, shall be deemed to be, and to have always been, as valid and effectual in law as if such decree had been passed by a District Court having jurisdiction under the Bombay Hindu Divorce Act, 1947, or, as the case may be, under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
