- (1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the President, on Vice-Chancellor. such terms and conditions as may be specified by statutes, from a panel of three persons recommended by the Governing Body and shall, subject to the provisions contained in sub-section (7), hold office for a term of three years: Provided that, after the expiry of the term of three years, the Vice- Chancellor shall be eligible for re-appointment for another term of three years : Provided further that, the Vice-Chancellor shall continue to hold office even after the expiry of his term till new Vice-chancellor joins, however, in any case, this period shall not exceed one year.
