The Maharashtra Relief Undertakings (Special Provisions) Act

The Maharashtra Relief Undertakings (Special Provisions) Act

General19584 sections

This Act regulates industrial undertakings in the State of Maharashtra. It allows the State Government to declare specific businesses, especially those started, acquired, or taken over by the government, as "relief undertakings" to prevent unemployment. For these undertakings, the government can temporarily suspend or modify labor laws and existing agreements. This means rights, obligations, and court proceedings related to these businesses are paused while the declaration is in force. However, these rights and legal proceedings automatically revive when the declaration period ends, ensuring that the temporary suspension does not permanently alter the legal status of the undertaking.
