The Maharashtra Miscellaneous Alienations (in Hyderabad Enclaves) Abolition Act, 1965

The Maharashtra Miscellaneous Alienations (in Hyderabad Enclaves) Abolition Act, 1965

General196531 sections4 chapters

This Act regulates historical, feudal land grants, revenue exemptions, and hereditary service rights, known as alienations, in former Hyderabad enclaves now within Maharashtra. Applying to local landowners, hereditary village officials, and occupants of these lands, it abolishes these legacy privileges, integrates the territory into the standard state land revenue system, and transfers public resources to the government. It matters because it modernizes regional administration by ending outdated feudal systems, establishes uniform land taxation, allows eligible occupants to secure official ownership rights upon payment of a prescribed price, and provides compensation to displaced holders, excluding only religious or charitable institutions.
