Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act, 2011
Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act, 2011
This Act regulates the fees charged by schools and colleges across the State of Maharashtra to prevent arbitrary increases that could place a heavy financial and social burden on students and their families. It applies to nearly all types of educational institutions, including government-run schools, local authority schools, private schools, and colleges that receive government grants. By requiring "aided" institutions to obtain approval from the Divisional Fee Regulatory Committee before raising fees, the law promotes transparency and fairness. Ultimately, it ensures that the cost of education remains affordable, protects families from financial exploitation, and regulates the sector effectively.
