1. Short title.

This Act may be called the Maharashtra (Change of Short Titles of certain Bombay Acts) Act, 1980.

2. Amendment of certain enactments.

The enactments specified in the Schedule are hereby amended to the extent and in the manner mentioned in the fourth column thereof.

3. Construction of reference in enactments, etc., or in instruments.

Statutory text

Unless the context otherwise requires, any reference to the short title of any of the enactments specified in the Schedule in any other enactment, or in any rule, regulations, by-laws, notifications or orders issued under any enactment, or in any instruments, shall, after the commencement of this Act, be construed as a reference to the short title of that enactment as amended in the fourth column of the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

1 SCHEDULE (See section 2) Year No. Short title Amendments 1 2 3 4 1956 XLVI The Bombay Contingency Fund Act, 1956. In section 1, for the words and figures “the Bombay Contingency Fund Act. 1956.” the words “the Maharashtra Contingency Fund Act.” shall be Substituted. 1956 XLVII The Bombay Legislative Council (Chairman and Deputy Chairman) and the Bombay Legislative Assembly (Speaker and Deputy Speaker) Salaries and Allowances Act, 1956.

  1. (a) In the long title for the words “the Bombay Legislative Council” and “the Bombay Legislative Assembly” the words “the Maharashtra Legislative council” and “The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly” shall, respectively be substituted.
  2. (b) In the preamble, for the words “the Bombay Legislative Council” and “the Bombay Legislative Assembly” the words “the Maharashtra Legislative council” and “The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly” shall, respectively be substituted.
  3. (c) In Section 1, for sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:“(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Legislative Council (Chairman and Deputy Chairman) and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (Speaker and Deputy Speaker) Salaries and Allowances Act.” 1956 XLVIII The Bombay Ministers’ Salaries and Allowances Act, 1956.
  4. (a) In the long title, for the words “the Government of Bombay” the words “the Government of Maharashtra” shall be substituted.
  5. (b) In the preamble, for the words “the Government of Bombay” the words “the Government of Maharashtra” shall be substituted.
  6. (c) In section 1, for sub-section (1), for the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:— “(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Ministers’ Salaries and Allowances Act.” 2 Year No. Short title Amendments 1 2 3 4 1956 XLIX The Bombay Legislature Members’ Salaries and Allowances Act, 1956.
  7. (a) In the long title, for the words “the Bombay Legislature” the words “the Maharashtra Legislature” shall be substituted.
  8. (b) In the preamble, for the words “the Bombay Legislature” the words “the Maharashtra Legislature” shall be substituted.
  9. (c) In section 1, for sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be substituted namely:— “(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Legislature Members’ Salaries and Allowances Act.” 1956 LII The Bombay Legislature Members (Removal of Disqualifications) Act, 1956.
  10. (a) In the long title, for the words “the Bombay Legislative Assembly and the Bombay Legislative Council.” the words “the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and the Maharashtra Legislative Council.” shall be substituted.
  11. (b) In section 1, for sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:— “(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Legislature Members (Removal of Disqualification) Act.”
