(1) The Controller of Weights and Measures or such other Officer as may be authorised by the State Government in this behalf may, on acceptance of such sum as may be prescribed, compound any of such offence under this Act or the rules made thereunder as are punishable with fine only.
(2) On the composition of an offence under sub-section
(1) no further action in respect thereof shall be taken against the person accused of it and if any proceedings in respect of that offence have already been instituted against such person in any Court, the composition shall have the effect of his acquittal thereof.
