Chapter I PRELIMINARY

1. (1) This Act may be called The Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidhyalaya Adhiniyam 1991.
2. (2) It extents to the Whole of Madhya Pradesh.

In this Act unless the context otherwise, requires :-

1. (a) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University ;
2. (b) "Affiliated College/Institute" means an Institution admitted to the privileges of the University in accordance with the provisions of this Act or the Statutes ;
3. (c) "Autonomous College/Institute" means an educational institution declared as autonomous College/Institute by the Board in accordance with the provisions of this Act;
4. (d) "Board" means the Board of Management of the University ;
5. (e) "Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies of the University;
6. (f) "College/Institute" means an institution maintained by, or admitted to the privileges of the University by or under the provisions of this Act ;
7. (g) "Employee" means any person appointed by the University and includes teachers and other staff of the University;
8. (h) "Statutes, Ordinances" and "Regulations" means the Statues, Ordinances and Regulations of the University as the case may be in force for the time being ;
   • (i) "Scheduled Caste" means the Scheduled Castes specified in relation to this State of Madhya Pradesh under Article 341 of the Constitution of India;
9. (j) "Scheduled Tribes" means the Scheduled Tribes specified in relation to this State Under Article 342 of the Constitution of India;
10. (k) "Student of the University" means the person enrolled in the University for taking a course of study for a degree, diploma and other academic distinction duly instituted;
11. (l) "Teachers of the University" means professors, Readers , Assistant Professors, Lecturers and such other persons as may be appointed for imparting instruction or conducting research with the approval of the Academic Council in the University or any College of Institution maintained or recognised by the University;
12. (m) "University" means the University deemed to be established under this Act with a view to impart education connected with rural development from primary to post- doctral level:
