This state law updates the existing Opium regulations in Madhya Pradesh. It changes the law to make it clear that not only possessing opium, but also *using* it, is an offence punishable by law. Furthermore, it increases the maximum punishment from one year in jail or one thousand rupees to two years in jail or two thousand rupees for violations (Section 9).
