The Madhya Pradesh Official Language Act, 1957
1. Short title, extent and commencement
(1) This Act may be called the Madhya Pradesh Official Language Act, 1957. (2) It extends to the whole of Madhya Pradesh. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. Official Language for official purposes of State
Subject to the provisions of Articles 346 and 347 of the Constitution, Hindi shall be the official language of the State for all purposes except such purposes as are specifically excluded by the Constitution and such purposes as the State Government may, from time to time, specify by notification in the Official Gazette.
3. Hindi to be used for certain purposes
Without prejudice to the provisions contained in section 2, the State Government may, by notification, direct that Hindi shall be used for such official purposes of the State and in such Government offices and for such documents as may be specified in the notification.
