Chapter XII TENURE-HOLDERS

Reduction of revenue during the currency of settlement. —

1. (1) Any Bhumiswami may, during the currency of a settlement, apply for a reduction of land revenue payable by him, subject to such rules as may be made in this behalf, on any of the following grounds, namely :—
   • (a) that his land has been wholly or partially rendered unfit for cultivation in consequence of floods or other cause beyond his control;
   • (b) that any irrigation source, whether new or old, constructed and maintained at the cost of the State Government has failed to supply water;
   • (c) that any private irrigation source has failed to supply water;
   • (d) that the area of his holding has decreased.
2. (2) Where a reduction is granted under sub-section (1), it shall take effect from the commencement of the agricultural year next following the date of the order and shall remain in force for such period as the Sub-Divisional Officer may determine. 162.
