This environmental law regulates the production, storage, transportation, sale, and use of plastic carry bags within the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It applies directly to manufacturers, commercial traders, transporters, and individual consumers across the entire region. Under this legislation, the state government holds the power to restrict plastic bags by setting minimum thickness limits or by implementing a complete ban on their usage in the public interest. This law matters significantly because it enables key authorities to tackle harmful non-biodegradable waste, reducing plastic pollution and protecting the local environment and public health from severe, long-term ecological damage.
