The Indian Tolls (Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Act, 1932

Tax19325 sections

The Indian Tolls (Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Act, 1932 empowers the State Government of Madhya Pradesh to lease the collection of tolls on public roads and bridges through public auction or private contract for periods ranging from one to three years. The lessee must provide security for fulfilling conditions and follow rates prescribed under the parent Indian Tolls Act, 1851. This administrative mechanism allows efficient toll management while giving the state flexibility in revenue collection through competitive bidding or negotiated terms (Sections 1 and 3). Transit users should note that toll charges are collected by authorized lessees appointed by the state, and the lease terms remain within a three-year cap to ensure public oversight and prevent unduly long control by private entities.
