Bare Act
The Madhya Pradesh Dharmadaya Fund Act, 1951
The Madhya Pradesh Dharmadaya Funds Act, 1951, regulates the collection and management of "Dharmadaya"—funds collected through deductions from wages or trade transactions for charitable or religious purposes. The Act ensures that these collections are not misused by the collectors. It requires anyone collecting such funds to obtain a certificate from the Collector, maintain proper accounts, and spend the money strictly on charitable objectives. Specifically, it mandates that nine-tenths of the collections be spent on the specified charitable purpose. The Act provides the government with oversight powers to inspect accounts, appoint managers if necessary, and penalize those who misappropriate these funds.
